La Vida is Belle

A year ago today, July 16, we celebrated the most important day for us both: our wedding! Yes, today is our FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY! Time flies when you are having fun, no doubt about it!

We cannot believe it has been a year already and it has been a wonderful experience to be married to my best friend, even though we had been together for over 14 years! (High school sweethearts).



Looking back on our first year of marriage a lot has happened: we finally moved in together into our first apartment, which we LOVE, but we have also traveled a lot compared to other years! I think we have traveled a lot more during our first year of marriage, even though we have traveled together ever since 2007, when I left to France to study abroad. This past year we have visited French Polynesia, Seattle, Vancouver, New York and Mexico City - that’s three countries in one year (four if you count the US, which we live in)! That is the most countries we have ever visited in one year! We try to take advantage of any opportunity to visit new places, in fact, our wedding theme was about TRAVELING - the seating chart was a world map and each table was named after a city we visited, along with a picture of us there! I promise, I will write a post about it soon for those of you interested in wedding inspiration.

As a way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, we took photos eating the top of our wedding cake, which we kept in the freezer for the entire year! I had been planning to take photos of us in our apartment with my wedding dress on and Edgard with a suit on (his wedding tux was rental so, for the photos he used a suit he already had). I got this idea from Amber Fillerup, who has beautiful photography on her blog. Luckily, the wedding dress still fit me - it's my motivation to stay in shape! The photos on the balcony were taken with my iPhone 7 Plus. The photos in our room were taken with a DSLR on a small tripod with the multi-shot timer on.  We just jumped on the bed, danced and ate cake, which was surprisingly good even after a whole year! You will also see my dried up wedding bouquet, which I kept stored away for a year - my plan is to place it in a small framed container, eventually.

Hoy, Julio 16, hace un año celebramos el día más importante de nuestras vidas juntos: nuestra boda! Si, hoy es nuestro PRIMER ANIVERSARIO DE BODA! Sin duda, el tiempo vuela cuando te diviertes!

No podemos creer que ya pasó un año y ha sido una experiencia maravillosa estar casada con mi mejor amigo, aunque ya habíamos estado juntos por más de 14 años! (Somos novios desde la preparatoria!).

Mucho ha pasado durante este primer año de nuestro matrimonio: finalmente vivimos juntos en nuestro primer apartamento, el cual nos ENCANTA, pero también hemos viajado bastante en comparación a otros años! Creo que hemos viajado mucho más durante nuestro primer año de matrimonio aunque empezamos a viajar juntos desde el 2007 cuando me fui a estudiar a Francia. Este último año hemos visitado Polinesia Francesa, Seattle, Vancouver, Nueva York y la Ciudad de México - son tres países en un año (cuatro si cuentas EEUU, donde vivimos)! Es la mayor cantidad de países que hemos visitado en un solo año! La verdad, tratamos de aprovechar cualquier oportunidad de visitar nuevos lugares, de hecho, nuestro tema de boda fue VIAJAR - la asignación de asientos para nuestros invitados era un mapa del mundo y cada mesa tenía el nombre de una ciudad que hemos visitado con una foto de nosotros en esa ciudad. Les prometo que voy a escribir un blog sobre el tema para quienes estén interesados!

Para celebrar nuestro primer aniversario de boda, nos tomamos fotos comiendonos el pastel que estaba arriba de nuestro pastel de boda, el cual mantuvimos congelado por todo un año! Yo ya había planeado tomarnos fotos en nuestro apartamento con mi vestido de novia puesto y Edgard con un traje (su traje de boda fue rentado, así que para las fotos usó un traje que ya tenía). La idea la tomé de Amber Fillerup, quien tiene hermosas fotografías en su blog. Afortunadamente, aún me queda mi vestido de novia - es mi motivación para mantenerme en forma! Nos tomamos fotos en el balcón con mi celular iPhone 7 Plus y las fotos en nuestro cuarto las tomamos con una cámara DSLR en un trípode pequeño con el temporizador de cámara para que tome varias fotos a la vez.  Solo brincamos en la cama, bailamos y comimos pastel - el cual estaba muy rico aun después de un año en el congelador! También verán mi ramo seco que guardé por todo el año - eventualmente, mi plan es ponerlo en un contenedor tipo marco.
